I appreciate the fact that Melissa Higgins does not shy away from representing the violence of physical bullying and that she relies on providing helpful advice to children who experience this type of aggression. I also liked the fact that the adults in this book were much more involved in solving the issue than in other books. Overall, this might not be the greatest story ever, but it does serve its purpose and would be extremely useful for sparking discussions in classrooms or at home about bu I appreciate the fact that Melissa Higgins does not shy away from representing the violence of physical bullying and that she relies on providing helpful advice to children who experience this type of aggression. The digital illustrations are in calm, muted tones and accompany the story without adding much more to the narrative. The story itself feels contrived, with the focus on the issue rather than letting the story take the lead. And though it might prompt important conversations about bullying, so would any number of excellent picture books available, such as Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson or Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts ...more

This book tells the story of Baily, a Raccoon, who is being physically bullied in the hallways when he's alone. Bailey's mom notices the bruises on his arm, and she helps Bailey to come up with a plan to prevent the bullying. Bailey's mom calls his teacher, who also helps him. The illustrations were created digitally. I could use this book to teach about bullying because it deals with a specific type of bullying, and it presents extra facts on some of the pages about this type of bullying.
